What We Believe About The Scriptures
The Holy Bible is the inerrant, divinely inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). It was written by men and is God's revelation of himself to man. It is the authority by which we live and by which we operate the Church.
What We Believe About God
There is one living and true God (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is God, consisting of three distinct persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17). He is omnipotent (Isaiah 40:28), omniscient (Psalm 139:16) and omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-10). God is perfect and holy (Isaiah 43:15).
What We Believe About Jesus
Jesus is the son of God, both fully God and fully man (John 1:1-5, 14). He was born of a virgin (Luke 1:26-38), lived a perfect life (2 Corinthians 5:21), was crucified on the cross as a sacrifice for man's sin (1 Peter 2:24), and rose from the dead (Mark 16:1-14). He ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father (Mark 16:19).
What We Believe About The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that enables man to understand truth (John 16:12-13a) and calls man to the Savior (John 6:44).
What We Believe About Man
Man was created by God, made in God's image (Genesis 1:26-27). Man's sin against God brought sin into the world and that disobedience broke the world (Genesis 3:1-24). Man is born broken and depraved, desperate to be whole again. Man needs God. God doesn't need man. All men have sinned, thereby earning death and separation from God (Romans 3:23). Therefore, man needs a savior (Romans 6:23).
What We Believe About Salvation
Salvation is forgiveness from sin and deliverance from the power of sin and its eternal consequences (Colossians 1:22). It is attained only by complete belief which is shown by knowledge and understanding in spirit and action (Romans 10:9-10). It is offered freely to all who accept Jesus as their Savior and follow Him. Salvation is the grace and mercy of God shown to man (Ephesians 2:4-6). The gift of salvation is a permanent gift that can never be lost (John 10:28-29). There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord (John 14:6).
What We Believe About The Lord's Day
Sunday is the Lord's Day and shall be regularly observed. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and shall include exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. Activities on the Lord's Day should be commensurate with the Christian's conscience under the Lordship of Jesus Christ (John 20:1-8).
What We Believe About Baptism And The Lord's Supper
We believe that God sets two ordinances for us to observe. The Lord's Supper or Communion is to be celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and our part in the continuation of His mission to bring others to reconciliation and salvation through Him. Baptism is our outward expression of our inner change. Immersion under water is the means by which we are baptized according to scripture.
What We Believe About The Last Days
God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth (Revelation 22:6-7). According to God's Word, Christ will judge all men (Revelation 20:11-15). Those who have not accepted salvation will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. Those who have accepted salvation will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:10).
What We Believe About Evangelism and Missions
Jesus has commanded the preaching of the Gospel to all nations and it is the duty of all believers to spread the Gospel through their words and actions (Matthew 28:19-20).
What We Believe About Stewardship
Christians have an obligation to serve God with their time, talents and material possessions (Colossians 3:17).
What We Believe About Christians
All Christians should make God their supreme priority in life both privately and publicly (Matthew 22:37). Christians will oppose racism, every form of greed and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality. We will work to provide for the orphaned, the widowed, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless and the sick (James 1:27). We will speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Christians will always act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth in Scripture.
What We Believe About Marriage and Sexuality
The term "marriage" has
only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one
man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in
Scripture (Genesis 2:22-24). God intends sexual intimacy to only occur
between a man and a woman who are married to each other. God has
commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of
marriage between a man and a woman (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
Any
form of sexual immorality, including but not limited to: adultery,
fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest,
pornography, or any attempt to change one's sex or disagreement with
one's biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God (1 Peter 2:11).
